Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
What bag style should I choose?
It depends on how you plan to sell your coffee. Stand-up pouches are great for retail shelves, flat-bottom bags offer a premium look with strong structure, and gusset bags work well for bulk or wholesale weights. We’re happy to help you choose the right fit.
Do you only make bags in your standard sizes or can you make any size?
We can make any size or shape bag you would like.
What size bag do I need?
Bag sizes are based on volume, not weight. Fill weight can vary by roast level and bean density. As a general guide, our bags are commonly used for 4oz, 6oz, 10–12oz, 1lb, and 2lb fills. We can send samples to help you confirm your perfect size.
Can I use the same coffee bag for whole bean and ground coffee?
Yes—most coffee bags work for both whole bean and ground coffee. Just keep in mind that ground coffee releases CO₂ differently, so using a degassing valve is especially important for maintaining freshness.
How do I know which material is best for my coffee bags?
Material choice depends on your roasting style, shelf life goals, and sustainability preferences. We offer kraft paper, metalized films, matte and gloss laminates, recyclable PE, and compostable films. Our team can recommend the best structure for freshness, durability, and branding.
Do I need a one-way degassing valve?
If you're packaging freshly roasted coffee, yes. A degassing valve lets CO₂ escape while keeping oxygen out—preserving flavor and preventing bags from swelling or bursting.
Can I customize the placement of valves or zippers?
Yes. Most custom coffee bags allow full control of valve placement, zipper style, tear notches, and panel layout.
Do you offer support for brands switching packaging suppliers?
Yes. Whether you’re switching due to cost, quality, or lead times, we can help match your previous specs or recommend upgraded materials. We’ll walk through bag size, structure, valve placement, and artwork setup to make the transition easy.
Whats your MOQ?
200 pieces. It’s imperative to note that MOQ and unit pricing go hand-in-hand though. By increasing your order, you often reduce your cost per unit significantly. The right decision depends on your forecasted demand and what makes the most financial sense for your business.
Can I order bags in multiple colors or SKUs within one print run?
Yes—many roasters print multiple designs (e.g., Espresso, House Blend, Decaf) in one run using a shared color palette. This helps keep costs down while giving your brand a consistent, professional look. Each SKU must be at least 200 pieces.
Are there fees for ordering multiple versions of my bag (for decaf, house blend, holiday blend) in one order?
There is a slight price increase per bag for multiple versions as opposed to single version. The pricing we give you will reflect that.
Artwork
Can you help with artwork or print files?
Absolutely. We provide print templates, dielines, and clear setup guidelines. We also offer free design help with our in-house designers. Our team reviews every file before production to ensure color, bleed, and layout are print-ready.
What format does printing artwork need to be in?
Printing artwork should be vectorized and in PDF or AI format.
How long does the artwork approval process take?
We’l get you a printing proof of your artwork within 24-48 hours.
Can I mix finishes or add specialty effects to my coffee bags?
Absolutely. You can choose matte, gloss, soft-touch, spot UV, metallic effects, or even holographic accents on custom printed coffee bags. We’ll walk you through what’s possible for your design.
What color system should I design in?
Please design using CMYK or Pantone (Spot) colors. RGB colors can look different when converted for print since it’s really only for digital representation, so it’s best to work in print-ready color modes from the start.
Why does the color of my printed bag look different than the artwork proof?
Colors often appear different in print because screens use RGB light (bright, backlit color), while printed bags use CMYK ink on physical materials like kraft paper or matte film. Every material absorbs ink differently, which can slightly shift how a color looks.
Do you have plate fees?
If your order is over 10,000 pieces, your order will be printed in a rotogravure method which uses plates. The price for the plates will be included in the per bag price we provide. For under 10,000 pieces, your order will be printed digitally and there are no plates.
Sustainability Options
Do you offer recyclable or compostable bags?
Yes! We offer recyclable PE, compostable PLA, and traditional multi-layer structures. If sustainability matters to your brand, we’ll guide you toward the right material and explain how—and where—the bags can be properly disposed of.
Do zippers & vents for recyclable or compostable bags need to be removed?
No. If recyclable or compostable materials are requested, the attached accessories will also be made of recyclable or compostable materials. For recyclable, they are made out of PE. For compostable, they are made out of PLA/PBAT.
Are your compostable bags home compostable?
Our standard compostable bags are industrially compostable. They require high times and a specific microbiome to break down. If you’re looking for a biodegradable or home compostable option, please ask your sales rep for the material specs.
Shipping & Returns
What shipping methods do you offer?
We offer two shipping options — expedited (air) and standard (sea). Estimated shipping time (in addition to production time) is 2-3 weeks for air shipping and 5-6 weeks for sea.
Is shipping included in the price?
When we send over pricing, the pricing will include whichever option you select.
Do you offer inventory storage or warehousing?
Depending on the order size and program, we can store custom-printed inventory and ship it out as needed. This helps manage space and cash flow for high-volume roasters.
Do you offer returns?
We do not offer returns. Please reach out to your sales rep if thereare any issues with your order and we’ll do our best to make it right!
